Chat is a quick and easy way to communicate directly with one or more members of your team, as well as share work related documents and image files. In this doc we will break down the features of chat, and provide the information you will need to become a ZoomShift Chat pro.

Locating Chat within your Organization

When utilizing a browser, Chat is located in each Organization in ZoomShift under the Messages header, and Chat Inbox.

Browser

When utilizing the Mobile App, you will find Chat for the organization you are in, under Messages at the bottom of the screen.

Your Chat Inbox will hold all of your outgoing and incoming messages for the Organization you are

currently viewing.


Starting an Individual Chat

On a browser, you can easily start a new individual chat with another Team Member by clicking the +New Chat button in the upper right of your Chat Inbox screen. When on the Mobile App, you can start a chat by choosing the green + in the lower right of your Messages screen.

Once the box opens, choose the Team Member name from the list, and a new chat will automatically be started.

If you have already started a chat with this Team Member before, then you can find the existing chat in your list of chats.

Tip: Have a long list of chats? You can find a specific chat with a Team Member by using the +New Chat box. Once you click their name it will automatically open up your existing chat with them.

-Getting Started-

On a browser you can easily start a Group Chat with 2 or more Team Members by clicking the +New Chat button in the upper right corner. If you are using the Mobile App, you can start a group chat by choosing the green + in the lower right of your Messages screen .

Once the box opens click the New Group Chat button.

Now you can select the Team Members you want to include. You can do this by checking off Individual contacts in the By Contacts section, or, select contacts by position or Location in the By Positions/Locations section. Once you have the group you need, click Create Group.

-Adding additional Group Members-

If you are the Group Chat Owner, you can add additional members by clicking the view details button

This will open a box where you will have the Add Members button. Click there to select additional team members.

-Deleting Group Members-

If you are the Group Chat Owner, you can Delete existing Team Members from the chat. You can find this option by clicking View Details in the Group Chat, and then scrolling down to the list of Team Members. To the right of their name and Position/Location information will be an X, which you can click to delete them.

-Muting a Group Chat-

All users who are part of a group chat can mute it, so they will stop receiving notifications. This option is found in the View Details section of the group chat.

Sending Images & Documents

You can easily send images and files using ZoomShift chat. Just use the attachment button next to the text entry area.

Acceptable file types are doc, .docx, .xls,.xlsx, .ppt, .pdf, .png, .gif, .jpg, which are smaller than 50mb.


Tip: Want to find all the attachments shared with you in that particular chat? Click the View Details button & scroll down to Attachment History.


Chat Status

Throughout Chat there are various helpful status' to view.

Message Sent & Received: Every message you send and receive, whether individually or in a group will have check marks to indicate it was sent and received. Grey checks indicate sent, but not received. Blue indicates sent and received.

Active Team Member: When a Team Member is active on the chat screen the bubble with their initials will show green on the small circle in the right corner. If they are inactive it will be gray.

Unread Messages: Unread messages have a bolded summary, and will show a number to indicate how many messages in the chat you have not seen.

Notifications

Chat Notifications are automatically on, and are limited to Push Notifications at this time. If you do not wish to receive any notifications for a specific chat, you can mute that chat by going into the Chat details and clicking on the Mute Chat button.
